Disney Infinity 2.0

The rumors came and went. Teaser trailers were leaked. And now, the news has been officially been released.

Marvel had previously leaked a teaser trailer that hinted that we'd at the very least, get Captain America, stating "Bring on the Super Heroes." The full trailer is out as of today, and bring on the heroes indeed :)

Disney Movie Rewards: A Primer

For those who don't know, Disney Movie Rewards is a loyalty program for purchasing Disney movies and music. Every Disney movie that is released now comes with an insert that has a code. These codes are worth points. Usually a Bluray combo pack is worth 150-200 points and DVDs are around 75-100 (depending on title). I haven't attempted to get points through cds because I usually pick those up second hand, and they don't always have the inserts. You can also earn points for actually seeing a movie in theaters. You have to scan in your tickets, and you'll earn 50-200 points depending on the amount of tickets you have. (Maximum is currently 4 tickets).

No free points from this disk :P
This is what you are looking for. Points would be located under the paper scrap :)

The best part about all of this is that it's free! Your points don't expire, there's no membership fee. If you are already building a collection, you can collect these points as you go. They also offer tons of free points in smaller increments. For Easter, we got to answer trivia questions for a total of 30 points. There's usually a 5 point clicker in the monthly email, and on their facebook page there's a trivia challenge to earn points.

What do you do with these points you might ask? Well, there are prizes! You can "buy" dvds, combo packs, toys, collectibles, even special trips! (Warning, the larger point prizes like trips could require verification that you actually own the movies you say you do. Likely will involve sending in UPCs, but I haven't tried this yet). You can also use the points for entries into sweepstakes, though you always get one free entry if you don't want to spend the points on it.

This is one of two sweepstakes running at the time of this post :)
Sometimes the movies will have special offers inside, for example, Frozen had an offer for a pull apart Olaf plush for $9.95 including shipping. Other movies have had offers for a free charm (usually Disney Princess movies, Cinderella had three that you could pick up) or a free movie ticket to see an upcoming feature. If it's a physical item you generally have to pay shipping, but it's not that expensive and cheaper than if you had to buy the item itself.

For those that get maybe one Disney movie a year, or even less than that, it's still worth getting an account. There are plenty of 0-point prizes, like coloring sheets and activities. Plus with all the ways to get free points, you'll be able to get a physical item within a short time.

These are actually part of a free poster set!
Just one of many free activity sheets available.

There are also special promotions throughout the year, like double points offers (so it might be worth saving up some of the titles that don't give you bonuses right away). Recently there was a buy three Disney movies, get one free through the program. I had some un-entered movies saved up to use for it and picked up Secretariat for free! Plus I got to keep all the points.

If you choose to go for picking up movies through DMR, you have two options for some of them (usually combo packs).

  • Pay a higher amount in points and get the item completely free.
OR
  • Give up less of your points and pay shipping and handling.

Both work equally well depending on what you want to do. Also, you'll get some of your points refunded because the free movie comes with it's insert. Win Win!

You aren't limited to just classic Disney movies for kids, though there is a lot of that. :) They also have movies and shows from their other properties. They have seasons of Lost, Ugly Betty, and Scrubs, as well as movies like Tempest, Phenomenon, Hidalgo and Arachnaphobia. There's really something for everyone

Daggers, Dragons and Disney Infinity!

This is going to be a combo post. A bit of Disney, a bit of not, a whole lot of Awesome!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. I got to go to the Renaissance festival with some of my friends since it was buy one get one free for opening weekend. Had a lovely time, and got a nice dagger/dirk set by trusting some pirates :)

Lain zhavorsa vortos. Hethkat ha Khaleesi.
Went to pick up a textbook at Barnes & Noble and they have a deal going where you purchase two Game of Thrones Items, and you get a free Map of Westeros. This was much too good to pass up (which is also why I'm letting you guys know about it!), so I got A Storm of Swords, since I don't own it yet, as well as a blind Funko figure :) I got the cutest Viserion out of it:

I will take what's mine with fire and adorableness.
Also made a run to Gamestop to see their selection. Just so y'all know they have Disney Infinity Playsets for $19.99 now. If you haven't finished out your figure collection, things are getting a bit easier now. I've seen more deals going on, and nobody really seems to be out of stock.

For me, it was this crew, or Cars. I think I made the right choice ;)
Now I have one play set left to collect, several figures, and most of series 2/3 power disks. What are you missing? Have you found any fantasmic deals to share? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. I'd love to hear them and chat!

Fan Art Friday: The Spring Sprite

As spring is still trying to make its appearance through the freezing weather, I thought it would be fun to look to the Spring Sprite for help!

For those who don't know, the Spring Sprite is a character from the Firebird Suite in Fantasia 2000. She is curious, and has control over growing things.

Frozen: HISHE

This would be an awesome crossover. If only Disney/Marvel could get back the X-Men, then it would be more plausible.

Amazon Deal of the Week: Easter Special

Conveniently, Amazon has an Easter deal on Disney movies. They have 18 movies ranging from Who Framed Roger Rabbit on Blu Ray for $10.99 through the Diamond Edition Peter Pan 2 disc Blu Ray set for $22.84. If you haven't completed your collection, why not check out everything on sale here?

The Start of Something New

The toughest thing about setting up this blog has been getting started. No more excuses, gotta get my head in the game, and jump in.

So Disney. Most people have grown up with this company, whether watching the classic animation, the live action shows, or going to the parks on vacation. It's a wonderful magical company that tries to bring joy through all sorts of media. Some people love it, some people hate it, but almost everyone knows about it.

Why blog about Disney? For starters, because I can. To go into detail though, I grew up watching the classic Disney movies. I got to see a lot of the animated ones in theaters. I know the songs, I've even worked there. This is something I know and care about. I want to share what I know with those who care too.

Along the way, I'm going to review the vast collection of Disney movies I have. I'll talk about the different formats that a movie is in, and keep my readers up to date on my collection status. We'll go through the T.V. shows, and if I can get a copy, the older movies. I'll let you know about Disney news, and even go off topic a bit to focus on non-Disney subjects.

I'm looking forward to feedback, ideas, and interaction with the public. So share with friends, like posts if you agree, and debate in the comments if you don't. I only have one question for you before we start on this magic carpet ride.
